Game. Art. Love. Three concepts impossible to define with simple words.
I’m starting this side-project to share thoughts, ideas, pictures, videos and - in general - inspiring material concerning these subjects.
Being in love with game design, Game. Art. Love. will be focused on game development as a form of artistic expression.
Making games like writing poems.
My Last Friend is a game that I made during the #MolyJam2012.
The concept comes from this tweet:
"You're a scarecrow in a world with just 1 bird"
My Last Friend is about enstablishing a relationship. Depending on the player's will to do it, to explore and understand the game, My Last Friend evolves accordingly.
In the game I don't explain very much, and the mechanics are not explicit on purpose.
When I write game reviews I usually take one or two days for organizing my ideas and avoid what I use to call 'impulsive writing'. This time I have to break this rule, because what I just experienced playing Journey transcends the concept of 'videogame'.
Particle Explosion contains remastered versions of chiptune tracks that I recorded in 2011.
Included in the digital album there's a chiptune cover of Nightcall, by Kavinsky.
Few weeks ago I was required to write an essay for Concept Design, based on the application of two of the theories we studied at university to an entertainment product. Today I'm publishing part of the essay, focusing on the application of the Semiotic Theory to ICO.
"The Mirror by Alex Camilleri is a haunting and poetic piece of game-art where you travel the road of life surrounded by your friends. One by one, friendships fade, followers are lost, and the leaves in the trees fall. As in life, nothing lasts forever. Or does it?" [Breakdance McFunkypants]
